Getting Started
SignShield is a video-verified electronic waiver platform. Businesses create waiver templates, send signing links to participants, and collect legally-binding signatures with optional video consent — all from any device.
Participants receive a link via email or SMS (or scan a QR code on-site). They open it on any device, read the waiver, draw their signature, and optionally record a short video stating their name and consent. The entire process takes under two minutes.
No. SignShield works entirely in a web browser — no apps to install, no special hardware required. Any smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera works for video verification. For on-site kiosk mode, a tablet is all you need.
Operations & Workflow
Paper waivers are vulnerable to loss, damage, and illegible signatures. They're difficult to search, impossible to back up, and provide weak legal protection compared to timestamped digital records with video consent.
The industry is already moving: many national governing bodies and organizations now require electronic waivers as part of their membership and certification processes, and leading operators across the country run fully electronic processes including required training videos.
No. Video verification is an optional feature that you enable per template. You can collect standard electronic signatures without video if that's what your workflow requires. However, video consent provides significantly stronger legal protection and is recommended for high-liability activities.
SignShield's kiosk mode (Professional plan and above) works offline. Participants can sign waivers without an internet connection, and all data syncs automatically when connectivity returns. No data is lost.
Absolutely. Going digital doesn't replace your pre-activity briefing or safety discussion. Many operators walk participants through each clause on a shared screen or printed copy, then have them sign digitally. The conversation stays the same — the clipboard just becomes a tablet.
Yes. You can embed YouTube, Vimeo, or uploaded videos directly into your waiver templates. Signers must watch the video before they can proceed to sign. You can require full completion (at least 90% watched) for critical safety content.
Viewing is tracked with timestamps — when they started, when they finished, and how much they watched. This proof-of-viewing is stored with the signed waiver and included in the generated PDF, giving you a legally defensible audit trail.
When a participant's date of birth indicates they're a minor, SignShield automatically requires a parent or guardian co-signature. The guardian can sign on the same device (same session) or receive a separate secure link to co-sign remotely. Full audit trail captures the guardian's identity and relationship.
Legal & Compliance
Yes. Electronic signatures are legally binding in the United States under the ESIGN Act (2000) and UETA, as well as in most countries worldwide. SignShield's waivers include timestamp, IP address, signature image, and optional video — providing stronger legal proof than a paper signature.
A video recording of the signer stating their name and acknowledging the waiver terms creates irrefutable proof that the actual person — not just someone with email access — read and agreed to the terms. This is significantly more defensible in court than an ink signature, which can be forged or disputed.
Signed waivers are stored securely for as long as your account is active. Each waiver generates a tamper-proof PDF with the signature image, video reference, timestamp, and IP address. You can export waivers at any time for your own records.
Technical
SignShield works on any modern browser — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge — on desktop, tablet, and mobile. Video recording requires a device with a camera and microphone (built into all modern smartphones and laptops).
All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). Signed waivers are stored with tamper-proof integrity. We implement rate limiting, email verification on public links, and comprehensive audit logging. See our Security page for full details.
API access is available on the Enterprise plan. We also support webhook integrations so you can connect SignShield to your existing booking systems, CRM, or operational tools. Stripe billing is integrated natively for all subscription management.
